The Abruzzi wines with Protected Designation of Origin are: Abruzzo PDO, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo.
The Abruzzo PDO was created to promote regional grape varieties, in particular Pecorino and Passerina, capable of giving fresh, fruity and elegant wines. The Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is probably the most representative wine of Arezzo’s wine production, not to be confused with the eponymous grape of Toscana region. Cerasuolo is derived from a different fermentation method of the same grape. Trebbiano is a very tasty white wine.
